Yaseen Anwar

Chairperson of the Regional Chapter of Green Investment Principles (GIP) for BRI in Central Asia, Former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan

Mr. Yaseen Anwar is the former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (Central Bank) with 40 years’ experience in international banking and regulatory matters. He spent seven years as the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan prior to his retirement in 2014. At the Central Bank, he negotiated and signed the country’s first currency swap agreements with China and Turkey, and in 2012, it became only the 7th Central Bank to sign an agency agreement with the People’s Bank of China to invest in local government bonds. Prior to joining the Central Bank, Yaseen Anwar worked in New York, London, Paris, and Egypt with JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Merrill Lynch in various senior capacities. He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
