Hüseyin Özhan
Acting Managing Director, Central Asia, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
Hüseyin Özhan is the Acting Managing Director, Central Asia. He has more than 20 years of experience in finance and investments across the EBRD regions in diverse sectors. Mr. Özhan is also the Deputy Chairman of Kazakhstan Foreign Investors’ Council Association and member of AmCham and Eurobak in Kazakhstan.
Huseyin joined EBRD in Transport/Infrastructure team in Istanbul. He took up Head of Ankara and Deputy Head of Turkey positions in 2015 and 2017, respectively. He then moved to London as Advisor to VP Banking, whose remit extended to all EBRD Country offices in 2019. Huseyin then took up Director, Head of Kazakhstan role on 1 September 2021. During his tenure, the country attracted business investments totalling €1.45 bn across 45 projects, including the landmark projects of Almaty Airport, the largest FDI to date in Central Asia, Almaty CHP2 Coal Phaseout and, most recently, the AirAstana privatisation. As of 1 June 2024, Hüseyin has been appointed to his current role.
Prior to joining EBRD, Hüseyin worked as a Sector Head for Corporate Banking and Structured Finance department at EurobankTekfen. Previously, he was involved in several infrastructure transactions including energy and telecoms in the CIS and the Balkans.
Huseyin holds a B.A. with honours in Economics and Mathematics from Macalester College, Minnesota, M.A. in Finance and a Ph.D. candidate from Yeditepe University, Istanbul.
