Askar Namazbayev
Deputy Country Head for Kazakhstan, EBRD
Askar Namazbayev is EBRD Deputy Country Head for Kazakhstan. Over the course of his fifteen-years career at EBRD, Askar has been working as a transport infrastructure lead banker for Kazakhstan and Central Asia, establishing relationship with key infrastructure players, including railway administrations in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Air Astana and Kazavtozhol, overseeing delivery of more than EUR 1.5B EBRD investments in Central Asia and leading policy dialogue efforts.
Over the last five years Askar worked in EBRD risk management team, based London, advising banking teams on corporate and project finance transactions in energy, transport, and municipal infrastructure sectors in Central and Southern Europe, Caucasus and Baltics. Starting this year Askar returned to Kazakhstan and is currently based in Astana.
Askar holds Master’s degree in Economics from KIMEP University (Kazakhstan) and is a CFA charter holder.
